Biography
The voice behind the clip belongs to a retired four-star admiral of the United States Navy. William Harry McRaven spent his career in uniform, reaching the top of the American special operations structure, and the authority readers hear in his talks comes from that职 — a career built inside the military rather than in front of an audience.
From 8 August 2011 to 28 August 2014 he served as commander of United States Special Operations Command, the ninth officer to hold the post. SOCOM is the joint command that oversees the special operations forces of the American armed services, and McRaven led it for three years before retiring.
His work after the Navy took a different shape. Between 2015 and 2018 he was chancellor of The University of Texas System, moving from military command to running a large public higher education system. Born on 6 November 1955 in Pinehurst, he is American.
