Biography
The line that follows him around is the one about holding two belts at once. He was the first fighter in the UFC to do it — champion at featherweight and lightweight at the same time — and that single fact is why clips of him talking about ambition, self-belief and refusing to stay in one lane keep circulating years later.
He was born in Crumlin, Dublin, on 14 July 1988, and turned professional in mixed martial arts. Before the UFC titles, he had already pulled off the same trick on the regional circuit, holding the Cage Warriors featherweight and lightweight championships simultaneously. The pattern repeated at the highest level, which is part of why people treat the earlier run as more than a footnote.
He is a former holder of both UFC belts and has also competed in boxing. What draws people to his material is less technical instruction than the posture behind it: a fighter from a Dublin suburb who kept announcing what he intended to do and then, on more than one occasion, did it.
