Biography
The clip that brought you here is almost certainly the work of Eric Thomas, an American motivational speaker. That is the whole of what the record in front of me establishes about him: nationality, and the line of work.
It is a thin file, and rather than pad it out, it is worth saying why. The name is a crowded one. The written record around it also holds a former American football cornerback, an arena football player who appears in the 2007 Austin Wranglers season, an American hurdler who lived from 1973 to 2022, a gynaecologist who served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bristol and died in 2023 at the age of seventy, the inventor of LISTSERV, a footballer inducted into the Football Hall of Fame Western Australia, an Argentinian basketball player named Erik Thomas, and R. Eric Thomas, an American author, playwright, television writer and advice columnist.
So if you have been sent a speech and want to know more, the person you are after is the speaker — distinct from the athletes, the academic, the programmer and the columnist who share the name. Anything further about his life, his background or the substance of his talks would be guesswork on my part, and it is better left to sources that can actually support it.
