Biography
The clips that circulate tend to be Francis Chan preaching — direct, unadorned talks aimed at people who already call themselves Christians. That is the work he is best known for: teaching and writing from within American Protestant evangelicalism, aimed at a church audience rather than a general one.
He built the platform himself. In 1994 he founded Cornerstone Community Church, a nondenominational evangelical congregation in Simi Valley, California, and served there as teaching pastor. Ten years later he founded Eternity Bible College, taking on the role of chancellor in its early years and holding it until 2010. He no longer occupies either of those posts.
Chan was born on 31 August 1967 and is of Hong Kong origin. His books and talks are distributed through his own site at francischan.org.
