Biography
Most people meet him twice: once as Louie De Palma, the taxi dispatcher barking from behind the cage in the sitcom Taxi, and again decades later as Frank Reynolds on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Both parts trade on the same set of tools — the short stature, the raspy voice, the accent that lands somewhere very specific, and a comic energy that fills whatever room he's put in.
The Taxi run lasted from 1978 to 1983 and brought him a Golden Globe and an Emmy. It's Always Sunny began in 2006, first on FX and later FXX, and he has played Frank there ever since. Between them sits a career as actor, comedian and filmmaker.
Born in Neptune Township on 17 November 1944, he is American, and the roles that made his name have kept him in front of audiences across two very different eras of television comedy.
