Biography

The talks that circulate online tend to come back to a single afternoon in 2006. Playing college football for the University of Tennessee, he took an injury that ended his career on the spot and left his right arm permanently paralysed. What he does now — speaking to rooms full of people about what happens after a plan collapses — grew directly out of that.

Born in Atlanta in 1986, Inquoris Desmond Chade Johnson went into psychology after football. The move from athlete to speaker was not a pivot away from the injury but a way of working with it, and the subject matter has stayed close to his own experience rather than drifting into general self-help. Among the platforms he has been given, he delivered the keynote at the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

He continues to speak publicly and maintains a site at inkyjohnson.com. The appeal, for the audiences who find him, is that the story is not a comeback in the usual sense: the arm did not recover, and he built the rest of his life around that fact.
