Biography
The seven Harry Potter books are the best-selling book series in history, with more than 600 million copies sold. The person who wrote them was born Joanne Rowling in Yate in July 1965, and published under the pen name J. K. Rowling.
Beyond the wizard novels, her work extends into screenwriting and film production, and she is also known as a philanthropist. She continues to write fiction under a second name: the Cormoran Strike crime series, still ongoing, appears under the alias Robert Galbraith.
That combination — a children's fantasy series at a scale no other book has matched, plus a separate crime-writing identity — is the reason her name comes up in conversations about persistence and reinvention. The publishing record speaks for itself.
