Biography
For audiences who know her from television, Joan Collins is the English actress whose screen work earned her a Golden Globe, a People's Choice Award and two Soap Opera Digest Awards, along with a nomination for a Primetime Emmy. In 1983 she was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Born in London on 23 May 1933, she has worked across film and television, and also writes — she is an author and a newspaper columnist as well as a performer. That combination of acting and writing is part of why her comments on career, image and staying power circulate as widely as her performances do.
Away from the screen she has been recognised for charitable work, particularly on causes involving children, which has brought her a number of honours. In 2015 Queen Elizabeth II made her a Dame for her charitable services; the honour was presented by the then Prince of Wales, now Charles III. Her own site is at Joancollins.net.
