Biography
The scoring record is the line most people reach for first: no one has put up more points in the NBA than LeBron James. It took years of appearances rather than one hot season, and that accumulation — turning up, again and again, at the top of the game — is a large part of why his name attaches itself to talk about sustained effort.
Born in Akron in December 1984, he plays professionally for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA, where the nickname "King James" has followed him throughout. His record includes four championships from ten trips to the NBA Finals, eight of those appearances coming back to back between 2011 and 2018. With the United States national team he has taken three Olympic gold medals.
He is regularly named among the greatest basketball players ever, and among the most significant athletes of the modern era. Alongside his playing career he has worked as a screenwriter. He maintains a site at lebronjames.com.
