Biography
Most people who recognise the face know it from one of two roles: Brianna Barksdale in The Wire, or Cissy Saint in Snowfall. Both belong to the same kind of television — long-form crime drama where the weight of a scene often sits with the person who says the least. Michael Hyatt has also appeared as Dr Noelle Akopian in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Detective Sheila Muncie in Ray Donovan.
The screen work came later. Before it, the stages came first: a run of theatre work across the United States, including musical theatre, with a Broadway credit in Ragtime. That grounding in live performance sits behind the television career rather than alongside it.
Born on 17 February 1970 in Handsworth, Hyatt is British-born and American. Further material can be found at michaelhyatttheactor.com.
