Biography
The voice on Renewing Your Mind belonged to a Presbyterian pastor from Pittsburgh who spent decades explaining Reformed theology to people who had never sat in a seminary classroom. The daily broadcast carried internationally, which is how most listeners first encountered him — not through a pulpit or a book jacket, but through a radio programme.
Robert Charles Sproul, born in 1939, worked as a theologian, a Christian apologist and a pastor, and founded Ligonier Ministries, serving as its first chairman. The ministry became the base from which his teaching reached a wide audience.
He died in 2017. His material continues to circulate largely because of the form it took: sustained, repeated teaching aimed at ordinary listeners rather than specialists.
