Biography
The book that put him in front of a mass audience was *The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari* — a parable he first published himself, and which HarperCollins later picked up for wider distribution. It became a series, and it remains the work most readers know him by.
Before any of that he practised law. Sharma worked as a litigation lawyer until he was 25, the year he self-published *MegaLiving* (1994), a book dealing with stress management and spirituality. Leaving a legal career at that point is the pivot most of his readers encounter first, usually second-hand, in a clip or a quoted line.
He has since published twelve further books and founded the training company Sharma Leadership International, which extended his writing into leadership work. Born in Port Hawkesbury in 1964, he is Canadian, and his material continues to circulate largely through the monk parable and the ideas he built around it.
