Biography
Twenty-three seasons is the number that tends to come up first. That is how long he played quarterback in the NFL, a stretch long enough that the sport around him changed more than once while he kept taking snaps. Twenty of those seasons were spent with the New England Patriots, where he was a central figure in the run of success the franchise put together between 2001 and 2019.
He left New England for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and played his final three seasons there. The move is part of why people talk about him the way they do: the case that he is the greatest quarterback the game has produced does not rest on one roster or one coaching staff.
Born in San Mateo, California, on 3 August 1977, he has also worked as an actor and model. He is now retired from playing.
